3G/4G Enterprise small cell
Together with our partner, Askey Corporation, Node-H has developed a Dual-mode Enterprise small cell based upon Qualcomm FSM9955 technology. It provides simultaneous 3G and 4G coverage for up to 32 3G calls and up to 32/64 active 4G users. It supports VoLTE, CSFB and fast return to 4G. It is integrated with network equipment from various eco-system vendors. The operator's business case for deploying this small cell is further strengthened by the ability to upgrade the cell to carrier aggregated 4G when 3G service is no longer required.
Enterprise customers are among the best customers of operators, and they provide the highest ARPU. In return they expect the highest quality service for their intensive use of data and speech. But operators are finding it more difficult to provide enterprise customers with high capacity coverage, as offices are built to norms which are designed to shield the interior from electromagnetic radiation. Operators today are faced with a dilemma when trying to fill the coverage holes which are often found among their best customers.
4G coverage alone is not sufficient, as only a few operators currently have the complex VoLTE network infrastructure in place, and even if they had it, not all customers are equipped with phones that have compatible VoLTE support. That's why, for the next years at least, the ideal product for supporting enterprise customers is a 3G and 4G dual-mode enterprise small cell, but which is capable of extending its useful life by upgrading to 4.5G in the form of 4G with carrier aggregation.
